PAST ENGAGEMENT

Initial engagement for Treasure Philly began in summer 2022 with a series of one-on-one and small roundtable conversations. The goal was to connect with individuals and organizations outside the field of preservation. We wanted to understand the role preservation plays in the larger landscape of arts and culture.

In fall of 2022 we hosted a series of public forums--in person and online--and asked people to share their thoughts about preservation, history, arts, and culture. We asked attendees to share stories about their neighborhoods and  the places in the city they experienced culture. We discussed the importance of recognizing and protecting new cultural experiences that are being created today.

These conversations informed the survey methodology being testing in the Broad, Germantown, & Erie neighborhoods.
